Rodmell
Worth visiting for Monk’s House, the 17th home that was bought by Leonard and Virginia Woolf for the 'shape and fertility and wildness of the garden'. On a warm spring day, it is hard to imagine anywhere more perfect. From behind the orchard, with its ‘infinity of fruit-bearing trees’ and artfully placed antique barrow, mower and bee hives, rises the church beside which stands Virginia’s writing lodge. Take a wander around the village to enjoy the historic buildings, including the old workhouse, then take some refreshment at the Abergavenny Arms.
