Queen Elizabeth Country Park

This comprises fourteen hundred acres of ancient downland and 1930s woodland through which the South Downs Way winds. It includes the majestic Butser Hill, where people have lived pretty much continuously since the stone age. There are bronze age barrows to be seen and the clear outlines of yet another iron age fort. In autumn the woods are full of fungi. It’s a lovely place to explore, picnic, cycle or walk with your dog. Shop and toilets are on site.

Parking: PO8 0QE (Gravel Hill car park, full day £6)
