Edburton
This little hamlet is one of our favourite locations that no one knows about! Its Church is glorious, with its battered lead font and four sun dials– mass-clocks –used to mark the times of services in Saxon and Norman times. Directly in front of the church stands Michaelmas Cottage with its curious owl window. And another curiosity is the hamlet’s old school house, which has a splendid keystone over the main door. The gargoyle is known as the ‘Parson’s Nose’ and it seems is the final brilliantly impudent word in a disagreement between the local Page family who owned the house and the Reverend Tuffnell, who had an unfortunately prominent nose.
